Roger Cleveland, Callaway’s Chief Club Designer and wedge guru has combined two of Callaway’s most popular wedges into one, designed for Callaway’s Tour players.
The Mack Daddy 2 Tour Grind wedge is based largely on the original Mack Daddy 2 Wedges, but with a new sole grind and shape, inspired by Callaway’s successful X Forged wedges.
The shallow C-Grind has extra relief in the heel and toe portions of the sole. Callaway say this shape lets players hit shots with an open face while effectively reducing the bounce angle, meaning more of the leading edge is able to get under the ball promoting “proper sole contact for maximum spin and control”.
Additionally, Roger Cleveland and his staff have straightened the leading edge and added a higher toe on the Tour Grind wedge. The straight leading edge creates a better interaction with the turf whilst the high-toe is a look preferred by Tour players.
Callaway believe that these minor changes, added to the aggressive groove design of the Mack Daddy 2 wedge, will create versatile, Tour-driven performance and control.
